These Terms govern all repairs, servicing, maintenance and related work (“Services”) carried out by us on musical instruments and equipment (“Instruments”).
2. Scope of These Terms
These Terms apply to all musical instrument and equipment repairs, including but not limited to:

Guitar/bass setups and repairs

Drum servicing
-
Piano maintenance (studio-level)
-
Electronics diagnostics (amps, pedals, etc.)
-
General cleaning and servicing
-
Replacement parts fitting
-
Warranty and non-warranty repairs
These Terms do not limit your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
3. Booking, Estimates & Authorisation
3.1 Initial inspection
Before accepting a repair, we will carry out a preliminary inspection. This may be limited if the Instrument is assembled, sealed, or otherwise not fully accessible until work begins.
3.2 Estimates

We will provide an estimated cost for labour and parts before work begins.

Estimates are not guaranteed, as underlying issues may only become visible once work commences.

If additional work is needed, we will contact you for approval before continuing.
3.3 Authorisation
By booking or approving a repair, you agree that:

You are the legal owner of the Instrument or authorised by the owner

You consent to the work being carried out under these Terms

You will pay all agreed charges when due
4. Customer Responsibilities
You agree to:
4.1 Provide accurate information
Fault description, history of the issue, modifications, previous repairs, and any relevant details.
4.2 Remove accessories & personal items
MLC Retail Ltd accepts no responsibility for:

Straps, picks, sticks, cases, bags, tuners
-
Memory cards, batteries, or cables
Unless specifically listed on the repair form.
4.3 Ensure the Instrument is fit for inspection
If an Instrument is heavily soiled, hazardous, or unstable, we may refuse the repair or apply a cleaning surcharge.
4.4 Collect your instrument on time
Instruments not collected within 90 days of completion may be:

Subject to reasonable storage fees, and/or
-
Sold to recover costs, as permitted by the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977
We will make reasonable attempts to contact you first.
5. Our Responsibilities
We agree to:
5.1 Provide services with reasonable care and skill
As required under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
5.2 Use appropriate parts

New OEM or aftermarket parts depending on availability

Second-hand or refurbished parts only with your approval
5.3 Keep you informed
We will update you if:

We discover additional faults
-
Parts become unavailable
-
Repairs cannot be completed as expected
6. Parts, Repairs & Warranty
6.1 Warranty on labour
Repairs include a 90-day warranty on workmanship only. This does not cover:

Wear and tear
-
Damage caused by misuse, humidity, heat, cold or impact
-
Issues unrelated to the original repair
-
Modifications performed elsewhere
6.2 Warranty on parts
Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty where applicable.
6.3 Repairs involving electronics
Electronic repairs can involve interacting systems. A successful repair of one component does not guarantee the function of associated circuits.
6.4 Vintage or fragile instruments
Vintage, distressed or delicate Instruments may:

Have pre-existing weaknesses
-
Suffer cosmetic changes during disassembly or repair
We will take care but cannot guarantee original finish preservation.
7. Liability & Limitations
7.1 General liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for:
-
Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
-
Your statutory consumer rights
7.2 Damage during repair
We will take reasonable care, but we are not liable for:
-
Pre-existing faults
-
Hidden defects discovered only when work begins
-
Pre-existing structural damage that worsens during repair
-
Damage caused by age, corrosion, loose joints, brittle components, rusted screws, or prior unreported modifications
7.3 Loss or theft
While in our care, instruments are held securely. However:

We are not liable for loss or theft due to events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., break-ins, fire, flood).

Customers should maintain their own instrument insurance for high-value items.
7.4 Loss of data
For digital or electronic instruments:

Back up your presets, samples, patches and data
-
We accept no responsibility for data loss during repair
7.5 Consequential losses
We are not liable for:
-
Loss of earnings
-
Missed performances, rehearsals, or recordings
-
Travel or hire costs
-
Any consequential or indirect loss
8. Completion & Payment
8.1 Notice of completion
We will contact you when your Instrument is ready for collection.
8.2 Payment
Payment is due:
-
In full, upon collection; or
-
Before dispatch for postal returns
The Instrument remains the property of MLC Retail Ltd until paid for in full.
8.3 Unpaid balances
We reserve the right to:
-
Charge storage fees
-
Withhold the Instrument until payment is made
9. Collection, Delivery & Risk
9.1 In-store collections
Risk transfers to you once the Instrument is collected.
9.2 Courier returns
If we return the Instrument via courier (with your approval):
-
Risk transfers to you when the courier receives the Instrument
-
We accept no liability for damage in transit
-
We recommend insured shipping
10. Customer Inspection Upon Collection
Upon collecting your Instrument, you must:

Test and inspect it before leaving the premises
-
Raise any immediate concerns with our staff
Issues raised after collection must be supported by evidence and may be treated as a new repair.
11. Cancellation of Repair Work
You may cancel before work begins.
If work has started, you will be charged for:

Labour completed up to the cancellation point

Any non-returnable parts ordered on your behalf
12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
